Title: Highly recommend
Review: The Forgotten Bookshop in Paris is a dual timeline novel with the main story taking place in Paris between 1939 and 1945. Jacques, the owner of La Page Cachée (The Hidden Page) bookshop and his wife Mathilde are mostly just trying to survive life in German occupied Paris and stay below the radar. Their resistance activities begin with helping an elderly British neighbor hide from the enemy and eventually assist her to leave Paris. Thus begins a series of individuals who are sheltered in a hidden storeroom within the bookshop, so appropriately named. The present day story serves to bring the history of these endeavors out of the shadows of the past with the reestablishment of a bookshop in the same premises by Juliette, an American with an unexplained attraction to the past and this particular place.I loved the WWII story. I thought it was a very good depiction of everyday life during the occupation, with real events interspersed into the narrative. Everything was realistic You could feel the fear engendered by the deteriorating conditions and the tension of living in these difficult times caught between appearing to cooperate while making daily small efforts to make a difference in the fight against the occupiers. The modern storyline was more of a filler for me in the beginning, but it served its purpose well and became more interesting as the two storylines intersected.I highly recommend The Forgotten Bookshop in Paris, which is the second of two adult historical fiction novels by Daisy Wood. The first is The Clockmakerâs Wife, which I have not yet read but fully intend to. Whenever I read what for me is a new author and Iâm checking to see if there is a backlist I can also read, I know I have found a very good author. Ms Wood has joined that group.Thank you to the author, the publisher Avon and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review an ARC.

Title: Wonderful story
Review: I am fascinated by all human stories set in WWW, fact or fiction. I knew I had to read this and I was not disappointed. Ms Wood has a delightful way of writing that places you right there as things are happening. I loved every minute of it and found myself disappointed when I realized the book was over!

Title: A beautiful book!
Review: This is a must read. The characters are so relatable and I truly felt their emotions through the wonderful writing. Such a powerful tribute to those who fought against evil at such risk to themselves. It was painful to read some of this knowing this suffering and desperation were a reality for so many. We should still cry remembering this awful past. The dual storyline tying

Title: Good read
Review: Very good historical fiction novel on world war and some of the descendants from the war. I think the ending wrapped up a little too quickly , but it was a good read

Title: Heartbreaking but hopeful novel.
Review: A superb read. I had stopped reading holocaust centered books after reading & absolutely adoring â All the Light We Cannot See.â. This one was a lovely telling of the hiding of Jews in Paris during the wretched occupation. What we all must remember with every breath we take in & out are those who have been persecuted for their differences.

Review: A wonderful read. I hated to put it down. The more the world changes we must never forget the past or we will be doomed to repeat it. Read the book for yourself, it’s a great read.

Review: Clearly marked chapters are set during the war or in 2022 – not a concept I usually enjoy but it was beautifully dealt with here. Felt involved with the characters from the start and was so sorry to reach the end. The story/characters linger on.I’d suggest noting the names and code-names of the characters during the war to avoid possibly having to go back to see who’s who as the book progresses. A very well-written and moving story.

Review: A lovely book. Lots of details of life in Paris during the war and today. I could just imagine walking down the beautiful streets today but realising how they were changed in the 40s. All things I know already but written in a way that made it easily readable and enjoyable, I would love to visit the bookshop, smell the mahogany, buy a book and take it across to the cafe on the square to read with a cup of coffee! One negative though, why add one f*** word? Unnecessary, lots of other words could be used, do people want this in such a lovely book? I want to be able to set it down without worrying about who might pick it up.
